Communist Students hold annual workshop in Nabatieh

BEIRUT - Youth expelled from the Lebanese Communist Party (LCP) held a workshop to further develop their political stances and ideological background a couple of weeks ago in Nabatieh.

Communist Students, a group of former LCP young members and newly joining leftists, debated the general political situation in Lebanon aiming at drafting the group’s plan of activity in universities and the country for the coming year.

Upon their formation, Communist Students decided that they would not be establishing branches in universities where there was an already active leftist group. But according to group members, the groups plans to increase its activity and start launching new cells especially in the Lebanese University (LU).

Leftist groups, who dominated the representative councils in the state-run university during the late 1960s and early 1970s have only a few supporters in the LU today. Sources from Communist Students also said that the group would consider launching its publication in Arabic. The group can be reached on its website on
