Several months after the United States and the United Kingdom started their endeavor of lining up the world's nation behind them for a possible war on Iraq, the two countries failed to convince the world community of the necessity of launching war against Iraq. "If the issue is about Iraq's disarmament, then the Security Council must take care of this stand off," according to an Amman-based political analyst who preffered to remain anonymous. The analyst said that even if the US wants to free people around the world of their local tyranny, it should have a certain policy and criteria. "They cannot just remove one dictatorship while protecting a dozen other similar regimes. It is either all or none," he argued. Amman has been the Arab capital which witnessed least popular activity in solidarity with Iraq. The leadership's stance on the Iraqi crisis has been ambiguous as well.
