One tyrannical regime down
January 2003
The month of December witnessed the most important event in
the
Middle East,
the arrest of Saddam Hussein.
Saddam is the first Arab ruler whose regime was toppled and he
was later captured in the past 30 years of the history of the
nation. His arrest was received with joy inside
Iraq, but prompted anger feelings in the rest of the Arab
world where anti-American sentiment, coupled with a rising
Islamic fundamentalist tied, is currently on the rise.
Meanwhile, Palestinian-Israeli negotiations look stagnant at
the time EU and US officials try to solve the conflict through
unwanted resettlement of Palestinian refugees in their host
countries. |
