More violence hits region
December 2003
November saw terrorist attacks on residential compounds in
Riyadh that claimed the lives of 10 civilians and wounded a
hundred others, similar terrorist attacks on Jewish Synagogues
in Istanbul that killed a couple of dozens of civilians.
November also witnessed continuous violence in
Palestine
and Iraq.
In
Palestine, Israel pursued the building of its Apartheid Wall
with
Washington’s
blessings and despite the Pontif’s criticism of Israel saying
that the Jewish State should build bridges not walls.
In light of the violent situation, several observers upgraded
the security situation in the region from volatile to
“explosive.”
In this issue, Alternative highlights issues of importance to
Middle Eastern youth who, thanks to on going violence and
deteriorating economic situation, are scattered around the
world. Alternative hopes that it would be the dialogue bridge
that several others decided to destroy.
