Alternative, Communist Students agree to issue supplement

BEIRUT - In a step that aims at reflecting the benefits of cooperation between Lebanese leftist factions, the Alternative team said in a statement late last month that it expected to publish a supplement for Communist Students (CS), a group of young communists most of whom expelled from the Lebanese Communist Party.

The statement said that the four-page supplement on CS would appear in the newspaper’s December issue. The agreement was sealed after a meeting between delegations from both Alternative and Communist Students.

“We have similar political guidelines and we think that such cooperation would be in the interest of both groups and leftists in general,” said Omar Harqous, from Communist Students.

The two teams also agreed to hold further meetings for further cooperation including linking their two websites.

According to Alternative officials, the newspaper was willing to forge similar supplements agreements with other youth groups. The official invited all interested group to contact the newspaper.
